the system

TRICS® is a computerised database and trip rate analysis package used extensively for transport planning and development control.

What is TRICS®?
TRICS® is the system that challenges and validates assumptions about the transport impacts of new developments. It is the only national (UK and Ireland) trip generation and analysis database, containing trip generation data and site information for over 2,800 sites.

How is it managed?
The system is marketed and managed by JMP Consultants Limited on behalf of the TRICS® Consortium of 6 County Councils in the south of England:

Surrey Kent
East Sussex Hampshire
West Sussex Dorset

TRICS® multi-modal
TRICS realises the importance of gathering multi-modal data at a variety of locations and development types across all regions. That is why two thirds of all data collected on an annual basis is now multi-modal. In 2008, 170 multi-modal surveys are being undertaken across the UK and Ireland.

TRICS® good practice
A good practice guide has been produced which should be used for reference by TRICS® member and non-member organisations when dealing with TRICS® data. You can view the good practice guide HERE
